BMIS community engagement on campus

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Bishop Mackenzie International School plays an important role in strengthening the partnership between parents, teachers, and students. It aims to foster a spirit of cooperation, open communication, and unity within the school community. Through various initiatives and events, the PTA creates opportunities for families and staff to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the diverse culture that makes BMIS unique.

The PTA organizes social and fundraising events that benefit the entire school community. These activities not only provide enjoyment and connection for students and families but also raise funds used to enhance learning spaces, improve school facilities, and support student activities. Every event is designed to strengthen school spirit and nurture a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.

The PTA Committee is made up of parent and teacher representatives, as well as the school’s leadership team. It includes at least ten parents (with children in both Primary and Secondary sections), two or more teachers, and the school’s Director and Head Teachers as ex-officio members. The Committee elects four officers: Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer, each serving to promote collaboration and transparency in all PTA operations.

Every parent and teacher at BMIS is automatically part of the PTA and is encouraged to attend meetings, contribute ideas, and volunteer during events. This open structure ensures that everyone’s voice is heard and that the association remains inclusive, dynamic, and focused on student well-being and academic excellence.

What to Do?

Reporting and Communication with Parents

BMIS places great importance on maintaining open communication between the school and parents. Regular progress updates, written reports, and conferences ensure that every family is kept informed about their child’s academic development and overall well-being.

Progress reports are issued twice each year to provide formative feedback, helping parents understand their child’s performance and how they can offer support at home. Comprehensive written reports are released in January and June, reflecting both academic and behavioral progress. These reports are accessible via the ManageBac platform, ensuring parents have secure access to important academic information at any time.

Parent–teacher conferences are held twice a year, offering valuable one-on-one discussions between families and teachers. In addition, student-led conferences are held for PYP and MYP students, allowing learners to take ownership of their progress by presenting their portfolios and reflecting on their achievements. Parents are also encouraged to request meetings with teachers, counselors, or learning support staff whenever needed, ensuring that support is available whenever challenges arise.

ManageBac continues to be the main platform for communication between parents, students, and teachers—providing updates, feedback, and progress reports in a streamlined digital format.

Support

Families should be able to move quickly to the right channel.

To support parents and students, the PTA and school administration provide important documents and guides throughout the year. These include policy handbooks, application forms, newsletters, and other useful resources that help families stay informed and engaged. No resources available at the moment.
