In Visual Arts, we believe teaching should be inspiring, and learning should be joyful. Our units and tasks are inquiry and project-based, allowing students to take ownership of their learning and creative process to develop as artists. In our classes, students have the autonomy to explore, create, and question themselves and the world around them. Teachers take on the role of a facilitator, sharing their knowledge and skills and supporting students in their learning. Our classes consist of both theory and practical activities that help students develop artistic knowledge, understand concepts, and develop a wide range of skills and techniques through the experimentation of different media.
Through their learning experiences, students develop personal expression, imagination, sensitivity, conceptual thinking, power of observation, analytical ability, and practical attitudes. Students show an increasingly wider understanding of the role of visual arts across time and cultures.
The Theatre Arts program at BMIS is process/inquiry and product/project oriented. Students explore various theatre genres while learning performance techniques, and character creation both vocally and physically.
